Redesigned WasteFreeSD.org Database Leads San Diego Closer Towards Zero Waste Goals
SAN DIEGO COUNTY – WasteFreeSD.org, I Love A Clean San Diego’s Zero Waste database received a revamped new look and design this past April. With a more interactive and user-friendly setup, WasteFreeSD.org is making it easy for San Diego County residents to move toward a zero waste lifestyle. The online database is host to numerous recycling resources, a search bar that allows residents to generate recycling results by zip code, and an accompanying call center to compliment the online database. The redesigned site houses information beyond recycling including repair options, waste reduction tips, and donation locations. With the database and call center, San Diego County residents and businesses have instant recycling information at their fingertips.
WasteFreeSD is an all-encompassing, zero waste resource that offers information to divert household items, recyclables, and household hazardous waste from our crowded landfills. Easily accessible information connects San Diego County residents to local resources that reduce the amount of waste ending up in our landfills.
At its inception, WasteFreeSD operated as a call center fielding calls about recycling and waste disposal dating as far back as the 1980s. In 2007, the call center expanded with the addition of the online database. A decade later, I Love A Clean San Diego relaunched the database in April 2017. Throughout the years since it developed, WasteFreeSD has continued to grow. In 2016, WasteFreeSD handled over 13,000 inquiries via the database and call center combined. Providing residents with a one stop resource that houses information about sustainable practices makes it easy and convenient to make the right choice for the environment. Residents have shown that they want to do the right thing and move towards waste reduction and recycling once they are educated and given the resources from ILACSD.
I Love A Clean San Diego’s vision of a zero waste, litter-free, and environmentally engaged San Diego region is easily attainable when residents and environmental leaders work together. Join in on this effort by reaching out to WasteFreeSD with your recycling and disposal questions and inform yourself with our waste reduction and zero waste resources.
