Bilingual Program Assistant - Recycling Hotline

REPORTS TO: Hotline Manager

TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Part-time, hourly, 20-25 hours per week

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Hotline Assistant will perform various public service and administrative tasks related to I Love A Clean San Diego's (ILACSD), Recycling and Household Hazardous Waste Hotline and Online Database. Additionally, the Hotline Assistant will assist ILACSD’s Community Events & Programs Department, and other Departments with various tasks as needed.

SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Respond to inbound recycling and household hazardous waste calls and requests from the public
  • Operate and update ILACSD's proprietary Recycling and Household Hazardous Waste online database
  • Operate a multi-line phone system, computers and computer programs and applications
  • Periodically check database for inaccuracies or inconsistencies in center listings.
  • Conduct call center administrative duties including appointment scheduling, call logs, mailings, publication inventory, and correspondence
  • Front desk duties including interacting with volunteers, clients, walk-ins, answering phones
  • Assist the Community Events & Programs Department including responding to volunteer inquiries, gathering supplies, checking in/out of volunteer kits and supplies
  • Attend organization events, booths, and cleanups
  • Assist other departments with tasks as needed
  • Other ILACSD supporting activities as necessary
  • Bilingual (English/ Spanish) required
  • Knowledge of environmental challenges facing San Diego County, especially waste and recycling issues.

  • ATTRIBUTES FOR SUCCESS INCLUDE:

  • Bilingual (English/ Spanish) required
  • Must possess good phone and customer service skills
  • Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word
  • High level of organization and attention to detail, savvy with technology
  • Multi-tasker and quick learner
  • Ability to work well independently and on a team
  • Knowledge of San Diego region (preferred)
  • Knowledge of environmental challenges facing San Diego County, especially waste and recycling issues

    I Love A Clean San Diego Environmental Educator – Part-time

    REPORTS TO: Executive team

    TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: hourly, non-exempt. Minimum 16 hours (2 full days) per week, additional hours possible on as-needed basis

    Help I Love A Clean San Diego inspire and empower youth to keep San Diego clean!

    I Love A Clean San Diego is looking for a part-time environmental educator to deliver presentations in K-12 classrooms throughout San Diego County, attend community outreach events, and assist on ILACSD’s recycling referral hotline. The ideal candidate would be a student with teaching experience and at least two to three open days for part-time weekday and weekend work. Hours will vary from week to week, on average 16 to 20 hours, with additional hours possible on an as-needed basis.

    Furthermore, the Program Assistant is responsible for the following activities:

  • Delivery of education presentations
  • Distribution and collection of teacher evaluations, student surveys, and handouts
  • Tracking and reporting of delivered presentations
  • Maintenance and care of education resources, supplies, and equipment
  • Attendance at community cleanups and events, including supply pick-ups and set-up
  • Foster positive relationships with community members
  • Take calls and assist on the recycling hotline as needed
  • Respond to ILACSD staff inquiries within 24 hours via phone or email (unless prior arrangements made)
  • Complete timecards and mileage reimbursement within due dates
  • Other duties as assigned
  • POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Teaching / education experience required
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Positive experiences working with youth and high school students
  • High level of organization and attention to detail
  • Ability to educate, inspire, and empower
  • Effective communication skills for diverse audiences
  • Comfortable speaking in front of large groups
  • Professional and accurate representation of ILACSD
  • Ability to work well individually and on a team
  • Reliable transportation
  • Flexible schedule
  • Knowledge of environmental challenges facing San Diego County
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

    Outreach Internship

    REPORTS TO: Community Program Manager

    TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Unpaid Internship

    INTERNSHIP DATES: Ongoing

    ILACSD seeks a self-motivated, outgoing individual team player to support ILACSD’s community outreach efforts. This position reports directly to the Community Program Manager.Time Commitment: Varies; must have availability for weekend events

    General Duties Include:

  • Market and promote ILACSD’s upcoming events and ongoing programs
  • Attend community outreach booths and cleanups throughout San Diego County
  • Manage supplies via inventory, purchasing, and proper, timely storage
  • Assist with coordination of upcoming events
  • Write blog content concerning internship experience
  • Maintain a professional and accurate representation of ILACSD
